The filter element consists of filter plates and spacer stars assembled on a rod. The oil passed through the gaps between the plates and was cleaned in the process. To remove deposits from the gaps between the filter plates, cleaning plates were used, which were mounted on a rectangular rod and installed so that their edge entered the gap between the filter plates. When the filter rod was turned, the filter plates also turned, and the stationary cleaning plates removed dirt from the gaps between them. The filter shaft handle was connected to the starter drive by a rod. As a result, each time the starter pedal was pressed, the rod rotated 1/12 of a turn. If the engine was constantly started with the starter handle, the filter rod had to be turned manually every day by 1.5-2 turns. Every time the oil was changed in the engine, it was necessary to remove the sludge from the filter through the drain plug, and every 12,000 km, remove the entire filter from the engine, clean it, and rinse it.
