Frontline transporter (LuA3-967). Similar vehicles were used by the Wehrmacht in the past (Volkswagen Type 82, Schwimmer type 166). These small cars could drive in places where it was difficult and in some places impossible. The 166 could swim, it was the most mass-produced amphibious vehicle of that time. The conflicts of the 50s -60s involving the USSR created a need for small, simple and cheap vehicles that could be used for transport soldiers to and from combat positions. For covert movement, the vehicle should have a low silhouette, all-terrain capabilities for cross-country travel on the battlefield capabilities, float to increase mobility, be light, reliable, simple and efficient. Production took place in Lutsk (Ukraine), at an automobile plant. The design incorporated components from the 3A3 965 vehicle already in production. The vehicle received a simple and reliable MeM3 engine. A gearbox with a reduced speed was added, thus increasing the cross-country ability. The installation of the ZAZ engine and gearbox in the front of the body required a change in the direction of rotation of the wheels, so 4-wheel reducers were installed. This increased the all-terrain capability (ground clearance up to 285 mm). Torsion suspension is extremely reliable, so it is used in tanks and armored vehicles. Behind the driver is a folding seat for a paramedic, on the sides of the stretcher with the wounded, or space for two people. Such an arrangement is necessary for the buoyancy of the low-sided body. To reduce the silhouette, the windshield was folded down. The steering column was folded and the driver could control the car lying on his stomach.
